Ek Thi Begum 2 trailer: Ashraf returns in bloody avatar to avenge her husband's murder

The upcoming season of the thriller will be released on MX Player on 30 September.

The first trailer of the MX Player crime thriller web-series Ek Thi Begum 2 sees Ashraf (Anuja Sathe) returning from the dead to avenge her deceased husband  Zaheer. The second season of the show will be released on 30 September.

In the finale of the first season, which ended on a cliffhanger, Ashraf is attacked by goons and left to die.

The new trailer reveals how she survives the attack and plots a course to take down all her enemies. As the first step in her carefully laid plan, she fakes her death and takes on the new identity of Leela Paswan. While Ashraf used her sensuality and intelligence in the first season to outmanoeuvre her enemies, here she prefers a more direct and brutal approach, as she guns down her enemies remorselessly.

It seems that the close encounter with death has turned her into a cold-blooded murderer. Along with retaining a few characters from the previous season, the trailer also introduces some new characters. Especially Shahab Ali's character seems to play an important role in this season.

The trailer also reveals how the underworld, police and politicians are after Leela Paswan. It will be interesting to see, amid all this chaos, how she manages to avenge her husband.

Speaking about the new season, director Sachin Darekar said, "Season 2 shows how you will end up paying the price for the thirst for revenge and doing the same things you once vehemently opposed,  by losing the people who are important to you."

Sathe said of her character, "The most powerful people are the ones who have nothing left to lose. She is determined to go to any lengths to avenge her husband and maintain her reputation. Her determination to overcome obstacles represents the battle of today's women.  Playing this character has been truly a special and memorable journey for me."
