Shooting for the Sonalee Kulkarni-starrer Tamasha Live has begun in Mumbai.
Sanjay Jadhav, known for directing popular films like Duniyadari (2013) and Pyaar Vali Love Story (2014), is helming the project.
The screenplay for the film has been written by Jadhav himself, based on a story by Manish Kadam.
Although the makers have not made any official announcement about the rest of the cast, Pushkar Jog and Hemangi Kavi were seen during the muhurat (inaugural shoot) ceremony, indicating that they are also part of the film.
As the title suggests, the film will revolve around Maharashtra's popular folk art form Tamasha and have 30 songs, the most in any Marathi film so far.
The music is being composed by Amritraj and Pankaj Padghan. Kshitij Patwardhan has written the lyrics.
The film also marks actor Sachit Patil's debut in film production. He is co-producing the film with Akshay Bardapurkar, Piyush Singh, Abhayanand Singh and Prakash Vaidya.
Commenting on his debut as producer, Patil said, "I have played a number of roles on screen, but this is the first time I will be donning the hat of a producer. I am very happy that with Tamasha Live I will be joining the family of Sanjay Jadhav, Akshay Bardapurkar and Planet Marathi, and my friend Nitin Vaidya is supporting me in all this.
"This is dreamy for us. Because we were looking for a good film for our production debut and we are glad that we are doing a unique film like Tamasha Live. I'm confident the audience will also love this film."
Speaking about working with Kulkarni and Patil, Jadhav said, "Sonalee and I have been friends for a long time, and it has benefited us at work as well. Sonalee is a great actress. So I don't need to say more about her work. And we have all seen Sachit Patil's acting. For the first time, he will be the producer and this is my second project with Planet Marathi. So naturally, I am very happy. Overall, I'm looking forward to Tamasha Live."
Akshay Bardapurkar, founder and head of the Planet Marathi production house and OTT platform, said, "Filming of Tamasha Live is starting during these auspicious days of Ganeshotsav. This has to be called Bappa's blessing. I am doing a project with Sanjay and I am also doing a project with Sonalee. Now, on the occasion of Tamasha Live, Sachit has also joined our family. So the audience will get to see something new."
This is Kulkarni's second film with Planet Marathi after Hakamari (2021). Tamasha Live is scheduled for a Diwali 2022 release.
