Music stars Amit Trivedi, Ajay-Atul, Badshah featuring Aastha Gill, Tanishk Bagchi featuring Zara Khan, Nikhita Gandhi and Yasser Desai will all take part in Global Citizen Live from Mumbai.

The day-long event on 25 September asks world leaders, philanthropists and corporations to take a stand for the planet and act to fight poverty, climate change and famine and move towards vaccine equity.

Speaking about his participation at this year’s Global Citizen Live, singer-composer Amit Trivedi said, “I believe in the causes supported by Global Citizen and stand in solidarity with artistes all around the world in support. I am looking forward to performing at the iconic Gateway of India.”

Composer duo Ajay-Atul added, “Our music represents the need for social assimilation because we were born on the land of social reformers. We have utmost respect for everyone who is underprivileged, marginalized and everyone who is a victim of vices in the world. We are waiting for the day when we will voice our empathy on the Global Citizen platform.”

Singer-rapper Badshah said, “I feel the time has come when the younger generation makes a firm resolve against the longstanding global issues such as extreme poverty, famine, vaccine distribution and reversing environmental damage. I believe in the vigour with which this generation will voice its concerns with the global ethos at Global Citizen Live 2021.”

Bagchi, the in-demand remix composer, also shared his honour at performing at the global event. “For me, music is the only vent to all my sentiments," he said, "While the world is slowly recovering from COVID, this kind of coming together of forces was the need of the hour. I am looking forward to contributing my best towards this cause.”

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor will be hosting the event from Mumbai, while others from the industry, including actors Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Arjun Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan and Riteish Deshmukh and actresses Ananya Panday, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Janhvi Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Sara Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, are expected to make special appearances.
