The shooting of Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming pan-Indian film Liger, which is being directed by Puri Jagannadh, resumed yesterday in Mumbai. The project has gone back on the floors after a long hiatus.

The star took to Twitter to share the news. He also shared a picture in which he can be seen sitting shirtless, with his back towards the camera, in a boxing ring.

Liger, which marks the maiden collaboration between Puri Jagannadh and Deverakonda, is said to be the story of a mixed martial arts fighter. The star is rumoured to be playing a character with a stutter.

"Blood. Sweat. Violence. Liger shoot resumes," he tweeted.

Liger will mark Vijay Deverakonda’s debut in Hindi cinema. Karan Johar has come on board as presenter of the Hindi version. The film, which stars Ananya Panday as the leading lady, will be released in five languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

The Liger teaser was set to be released in May this year but was postponed indefinitely on account of the deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

'During these testing times, we hope you all are staying indoors and taking care of yourself and your loved ones,' a joint statement issued by the filmmaker, the star and Johar's Dharma Productions, said at the time. 'We were all geared up to reveal a power-packed teaser for Liger on 9 May. However, due to the current scenario and environment that our country is facing, we have decided to postpone the same to share it with the world at a better time.'
