A tale of two bulls, a village and the oppressive system that surrounds it form the crux of Arisil Moorthy's moving film, Raame Aandalum Ravane Aandalum (Whether Rama Rules Or Ravana Rules).
Directed by Arisil Moorthy, the film is backed by Amazon Prime Video and Suriya and Jyotika's 2D Entertainment and lined up for an OTT release on 24 September.
The trailer for the film begins with the search for Karuppan and Vellaiyan, two young bulls which have gone missing. While the couple, Kunnimuthu and Veerayi, set out in search of their 'children', they discover things are not as simple as they seem. But with a reporter (Vani Bhojani) moved by their plight to try and help the couple, there is still hope.
The trailer reveals a fine narrative dotted with several socio-political issues. From violence, oppression, corruption and the ignorance of people about their own rights, the story moves in multiple dimensions simultaneously. The title borrows from the iconic song filmed on Rajinikanth which refers to the lackadaisical attitude of people towards whoever holds power over them.
“This film is very close to my heart and the cast and crew have worked tirelessly to bring to life a heartfelt story,” said Arisil Moorthy. “The trailer is a sneak peek into the small yet chaotic universe of the protagonist Kunnimuthu. I am excited for its premiere on Amazon Prime Video which will help us take the film to an international audience at once. I can’t wait to see the reactions of viewers and hope they will enjoy watching it as much as we had fun creating it.”
Suriya, actor, producer and co-founder of 2D Entertainment, said, “We are thrilled to bring the trailer of Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum to our audiences. It’s a slice-of-life satire, replete with simple human emotions and quirky instances that are sure to strike a chord. We are happy to join forces with Amazon Prime Video for this ambitious project.”
Vijay Subramaniam, director and head of content, Amazon Prime Video India, said, “At Amazon Prime Video, we have always believed in the diversity of storytelling and hence brought the most authentic local stories to the service. Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum is a heartfelt story of simple human emotions peppered with humour around multiple situations which will surely find connection amongst the masses. I’m looking forward to the first offering of our recently announced collaboration with Suriya’s 2D Entertainment.”
