Romance is at the heart of Shiddat, Kunal Deshmukh's upcoming saga featuring Radhika Madan, Sunny Kaushal, Diana Penty and Mohit Raina. With romance comes passion, which is captured by Manan Bhardwaj's title track. Written and set to music by Bhardwaj himself, the composition has energy, soul and the tempo to drive the story forward.
The visuals are created around the many incidents that build, sustain and sometimes destroy relationships. From the mischief and passion of Radhika Madan and Sunny Kaushal's characters to the more sensible, mature friendship that develops between Mohit Raina and Diana Penty's, the visuals capture them all.
However, with joy comes tragedy, and as the song moves to a deeper energy, the visuals shift to the changing perspectives, rifts and splits among both couples. Through it all remains the unspoken attraction or, as the title says, shiddat (passion) between them.
Bhardwaj's composition is rousing, to say the least. It begins slowly, with minimal accompaniment, before growing into an orchestral experience. The slow-burn treatment is complemented by the lyrics. Evocative and imaginative in expression, they capture the many devotions of love and, perhaps, the madness involved in it. To complete the trifecta, Bhardwaj delivers an impressive vocal performance that makes the song an entertaining addition to any playlist.
Shiddat, directed by Kunal Deshmukh and produced by T-Series and Maddock Films, is set for release on 1 October on Disney+ Hotstar.
