Actor Arvind Swami is all set to return to Malayalam cinema after 25 years with Fellini TP's Tamil-Malayalam bilingual thriller Ottu.
The film, which also stars popular Malayalam actor Kunchako Boban, went on the floor recently in Mumbai. Incidentally, this also marks the latter's foray into Tamil cinema.
The producers shared a video of the two stars arriving on set in Mumbai.
Arvind Swami's previous Malayalam movie was Devaraagam (1996) where he was cast opposite the late Sridevi. Prior to that, he had featured in Daddy (1992) as well.
Produced by Tamil actor Arya under the banner of The Show People and Shaji Nadesan under the banner of August Cinemas, Ottu will be released in Tamil as Rendagam.
Apart from Arvind Swami and Kunchako Boban, the film features Telugu actress Eesha Rebba. Ottu / Rendagam's story and screenplay are by S Sanjeev. The cinematography is being handled by Vijay. Appu N Bhattathiri will be editing the film.
Arvind Swami was seen most recently in the Jayalalithaa's biopic Thalaivii (2021), where he played the role of the legendary actor-turned-chief minister MG Ramachandran. Despite the mixed response to the film by critics, the actor received a lot of praise for his performance. Interestingly, MGR, as the late Ramachandran was popularly known, was of Malayali descent.
