After getting positive reactions for the first season, Voot Select’s web-series Asur is gearing up for the second one. Shooting for the new season is currently on in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Arshad Warsi, who plays the lead, shared the news with a tweet during the wee hours yesterday. He wrote, “Good morning from Varanasi. Shooting for Asur 2.”
Going by the picture he shared, it seems a portion of Asur 2 will be shot on the banks of the Ganga. Some portions of the first season were also shot at this place.

Speaking about the importance of the show, Warsi had said a few months ago in a statement, “I am overjoyed to start shooting again. As far as my career goes, Asur is one of the best things that has happened to me. It was my digital debut and with Season 1 being a huge hit, I am excited to see how people will respond to our new season.
"As we start shooting again, the entire team is motivated and working extremely hard to take Season 2 to the next level. When you have a successful first season, there is always a sense of pressure and nervousness. But that is the best kind of pressure, which keeps you motivated to deliver better and brings out the best in all of us.”
Asur (Season 2) will once again see Warsi play forensic expert Dhananjay Rajpoot. Barun Sobti plays his team member Nikhil Nair.
Sharing his excitement about the second season, Sobti had said, “Yes, we are back with a high-octane second season and are working extremely hard, as we know the mammoth importance of following up a hit season with a better one. We understand that the audience is anticipating a great show and the whole team is mentally and physically aligned to the goal. Honestly, I’m excited to work on the show but even more excited to see how we fare.”
Also starring Sharib Hashmi, Riddhi Dogra, Amey Wagh and Anupriya Goenka and directed by Oni Sen, Asur (Season 1) was about what happens when a team of forensic experts goes deep into a case of gruesome serial murders. The show also included elements from Hindu mythology.
