Diljit Dosanjh announces his next Punjabi film, Shikra

Directed by Amberdeep Singh, the film is slated to be released in June next year.

Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has shared the poster for his upcoming movie Shikra, which will be released in June 2022.

Written and directed by Amberdeep Singh, the movie is presented by Story Time Productions and Amberdeep Productions.

Dosanjh shared the poster on Twitter and Instagram.

The post was accompanied by the line 'Choori kuttan oh khanda nai...', a line from a popular poem by renowned Punjabi poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi.

The title of the film is the Punjabi word for hawk, a bird of prey, and Batalvi’s poem talks about a hawk-like lover who dismisses the food of love and feeds on her lover’s heart instead. The lines are, 'Choori kuttan te oh khanda nahin / Ve asin dil da maas khuaya!'

The evocative poster for the film, in hues of red, features two birds sitting atop a barren tree, with birds and hearts floating in the air. The poster signifies that the film will be an intense love story. The film is slated to be released in June 2022.

Dosanjh has several films lined up for release. The first among them this year will be Honsla Rakh on 15 October.
