Actress Kangana Ranaut has been signed on to play the protagonist in the upcoming epic Sita: The Incarnation, directed by Alaukik Desai and co-written by him with KV Vijayendra Prasad and Manoj Muntashir.
The actress shared the first-look poster from the film on social media.
In a press note, writer-director Alaukik Desai said, "The universe does help those who surrender to it with belief. What was a mirage is now clarity. A dream of a pious character never explored is now a reality. I am ecstatic to bring Kangana Ranaut on board as Sita. This pious journey will change the course of how we perceive our mythology. Thank you SS Studio for your immense support and belief.”
The film marks the third collaboration between writer Vijayendra Prasad and Ranaut. The writer was also part of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi (2019) and Thalaivii (2021). He has also written the story for Aparajitha Ayodhya, which will be directed by Ranaut herself.
Ranaut has taken on a role which was reportedly offered to Kareena Kapoor Khan first. The film will be backed by Saloni Sharma of SS Studio and will be a multi-lingual release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Ranaut has just had her J Jayalalithaa biopic Thalaivii released in theatres across South India. The actress has also completed shooting for the spy thriller Dhaakad. She also has the air force-based film Tejas lined up for shooting this year.
