The makers of SS Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus RRR announced today that they have not finalized any release date. Though the film is ready, owing to the current pandemic situation, they have postponed the release.

RRR was supposed to hit the screens worldwide on 13 October. The makers have clarified that they are nearly done with the post-production work.

“Post-production nearly done to have RRR ready by October '21," the makers tweeted. "But as known to many, we are postponing the release but cannot announce a new date with theatres indefinitely closed. We will release at the earliest possible date when the world cinema markets are up and running.”

RRR is a fictional story set in the 1920s and is based upon the lives of two real heroes and revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. While Ram Charan plays Sitarama Raju; Jr NTR will be seen as Bheem.

“This will be a fictional story on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem," Rajamouli said at the film's launch back in 2019. "There are gaps in the lives of these legendary freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in their lives in these years. It is through this fictional story that we would like to show what could have happened in their lives and what would have happened if they had met and bonded.”

The film, which will be dubbed and released in Hindi, also stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani and Shriya Saran.
