A Rajinikanth movie release is no less than a celebration. One that is set for Diwali is even more so. Even as theatres slowly recover from the losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the multiple lockdowns, the superstar has announced the festival release date for his film, Annaatthe.

The makers released a new motion poster along with the release date of the stylish action caper. The motion poster features Rajinikanth astride a Royal Enfield motorbike riding through an exploding car. The visual is preceded by the actor delivering a rhyming punchline.
While the helmet and earphones might feel urban, the actor's weapon of the aruval (sickle) acts as a sign of the traditional, rural aesthetic which runs as an undercurrent in Siva's film.

Here’s the massy second look of Thalaivar from #Annaatthe😎@rajinikanth @directorsiva #Nayanthara @immancomposer @khushsundar #Meena @sooriofficial @AntonyLRuben @dhilipaction @vetrivisuals @sunpictures#AnnaattheSecondLook #AnnaattheDeepavali pic.twitter.com/I3IDW2vClj
This visual is followed by another of the actor striding angrily forward, eyes set on something that we cannot see.
Annaatthe is being described as a rural drama, with enough elements signalling a high-octane action entertainer. The film also stars Nayanthara, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Kushboo Sundar, Meena and Keerthy Suresh.
Produced by Sun Pictures, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release around Diwali. The final date of release has not yet been confirmed.
