Music composer-turned-director Indraadip Dasgupta has announced that his upcoming film Bismillah will be released on 19 August next year.
The director had taken to social media to announce the release date on the occasion of Janmashtami, which fell on 30 August.
Starring Riddhi Sen, the musical film delineates the journey of a young boy singularly focused and passionate about music. The film depicts Bismillah’s journey as he evolves as a human and a complete artiste, paving his way with the interference of the contemporary world in the tradition of music.
Dasgupta reportedly had the project in mind since the release of Kaushik Ganguly’s Nagarkitan (2017), starring Sen as the transgender protagonist Punti. The composer believes that an artiste not only evolves through music but gets affected by their surroundings and the course of life as well. The filmmaker is also hopeful that the film will send out a strong message on communal harmony.
Dasgupta’s second directorial venture after Kedara (2019), Bismillah features Kaushik Ganguly, Subhasree Ganguly, Bidipta Chakraborty, Damini Benny Basu, Aparajita Adhya, Lama Halder and Surangana Bandopadhyay.
