Call My Agent: Bollywood trailer – Funny take on the inner lives of film agents

The new trailer for the dramedy Call My Agent: Bollywood (2021) shows a prayer meet for well-known agent Soumyajit Dasgupta (Tinnu Anand). The celebrities he managed have hilariously hazy memories of him, one recalling that they shared the same dentist; another thinking he died two years ago.

Starring Aahana Kumra, Ayush Mehra, Soni Razdan and Rajat Kapoor, Call My Agent: Bollywood features several wonderful cameos by Farah Khan, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha, Lara Dutta, Jackie Shroff, Dia Mirza and many others, who exaggerate their famous personas.

Directed by Shaad Ali, the series shows the funny but stressful lives of the star agents who have to balance their clients and the industry folk when negotiating contracts. Once they land their roles, the jobs are not over as they have to keep them satisfied, attending to their every need and anxiety.

Giving a behind-the-scenes look at the unglamorous machinations behind the fame, the series focuses on the talent agency Art, which has to regroup to stay afloat after the death of one of their own. The future of the agency is at stake.

Speaking about the series, Shaad Ali said, “This project has been close to my heart since the very beginning. It was a huge responsibility to be mindful of the original screenplay that has been such a success and yet have my own stamp on the adaptation. Each component of this show has been thought through with intricacy, right from the casting to the cameos.”

He continued, “Each of us included in this project has poured their heart and soul into it and I cannot wait to show the audiences the satirical world of showbiz through my lens. Rajat, Ayush, Aahana and Soni share such a brilliant chemistry that shooting with them has been a riot.”
