The Punjabi movie Chal Mera Putt 3 (2021), the third film in the franchise, opened to an encouraging collection of Rs1.32 crore nett on Friday 1 October, according to trade portal BoxOfficeIndia.com.
This is the highest opening collection for a Punjabi movie after the COVID-19 pandemic and breaks the record set only recently by Qismat 2 (2021). The latter film, starring Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta, had opened with a collection of Rs93 lakh nett.
Chal Mera Putt 3 carried on from the positive opening and amassed Rs1.68 crore and Rs1.73 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The three-day total of the film directed by Janjot Singh now stands at an impressive Rs4.73 crore nett.
Along with the director, Chal Mera Putt 3 repeated the lead pair of Amrinder Gill and Simi Chahal from the first two films.
The first film was released in 2019 while the second came in March 2020. However, it had to be pulled out from theatres after only three days because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent countrywide lockdown. It was re-released in August this year to a positive response.
Meanwhile, Qismat 2 continued to do good business even in its second weekend. The film, directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, had finished the first week with Rs10.63 crore nett and made Rs2.82 crore in the second weekend, taking its total so far to Rs13.45 crore nett.
