Sooraj Barjatya's next film, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani and Anupam Kher, titled Uunchai

Sooraj Barjatya's next film will see Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta lead an ensemble cast. Titled Uunchai, the film is being backed by Barjatya's home banner, Rajshri Productions, and it marks the filmmaker's return to the director's chair after six years.

Barjatya last directed the Salman Khan-led Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). 

Kher announced the project on social media on Monday, sharing a rare image of the reclusive Barjatya posing with the clapper board of the film. 

This is the first major production from Rajshri in two years. The production house's last offering was Hum Chaar in 2019.

Incidentally, Kher completed 37 years in the Hindi film industry earlier this year. The actor has also signed on for Shiv Shastri Balboa, alongside Neena Gupta, and the Satish Kaushik-helmed remake of Nirnayakam (2015). 

Uunchai, like most Rajshri films, is expected to be a family drama, which revolves around the friendship of senior citizens. Sarika and Neena Gupta are expected to play key roles in the film, while Parineeti Chopra is also part of the cast. 

The film is expected to be released in 2022.
