Actor Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan, was arrested in a raid by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on a yacht travelling from Mumbai to Goa on the weekend.
Aryan was booked under section 8(C) read with sections 20, 27 and 35 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and sent to NCB custody for a day by a holiday court in Mumbai yesterday.
His remand and bail applications will be heard in a regular court today.
The 23-year-old was arrested along with two others, Munmun Dhamecha and Arbaaz Merchant, after they were taken for a medical check-up. According to reports, all three have given voluntary statements under section 67 of the NDPS Act.
The raid was led by the NCB's Mumbai office on the Cordellia cruise on its way from Mumbai to Goa on 2 October. Eight people were taken into custody.
According to the legal news website LiveLaw.in, advocate Satish Maneshinde, representing Aryan, pleaded that his client was 'invited by the organizers' of the party and no contraband was found on him. Additional chief metropolitan magistrate RK Rajebhosale then remanded Aryan in NCB custody till 4 October.
Aryan Khan's arrest has resulted in some support coming in for his father. Shah Rukh Khan received messages of solidarity from Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Pooja Bhatt and Suneil Shetty.
