After weeks of rumours, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha finally make separation official

Star couple Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have finally confirmed their separation. Samantha shared a note with her followers on Instagram, mentioning that they wish to ‘pursue [their] own paths’. Both made news of the separation official yesterday.

"To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans, well-wishers and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support,” Samantha wrote in her post.

Naga Chaitanya also shared the same statement on Twitter. 

Over the past few weeks, several reports hinted that all was not well between Samantha and Naga Chaitanya. In July, Samantha changed the display name of her social media handles to S, dropping her married surname Akkineni. This paved the way for speculation that there was some trouble in the relationship.

However, her display name on Facebook still reads Samantha Akkineni. She is yet to explain why she changed her name to S on her other social media handles.

A week ago, Samantha made a hush-hush visit to Tirupati. In a video clip that surfaced on social media, a reporter was seen asking Samantha about the separation rumours that had been doing the rounds.

Samantha shushed the reporter by asking if this was the kind of question one should be asking in a temple.

On the career front, Samantha has two projects in her kitty — Telugu period drama Shakuntalam and Tamil romantic comedy Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal.

Naga Chaitanya, on the other hand, is basking in the success of his latest release, Love Story (2021).
