Popular actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was presented with the Excellence in Cinema award at the Filmfare Middle East Achievers Night in Dubai on Friday.
The event saw the presence of more than 100 eminent personalities from the Indian film industry. These included Kajol, Vivek Oberoi, Maniesh Paul and Nora Fatehi.
Siddiqui, after receiving the award, said, “For an artiste, there is no bigger reward than the audience giving you their love and appreciation for your work and I am glad to see people here in Dubai giving me so much of love. To receive an award among much vibrant audience here in Dubai is heartwarming to say the least.”
The actor has also been nominated at the Emmy International Awards for Serious Men (2020), directed by Sudhir Mishra, which was released on Netflix. He is the only Indian actor to be nominated in the ‘Best Performance by an Actor' category this year. The other nominees are Christian Tappan (The Great Heist), David Tennant (Des) and Roy Nik (Normali).
Siddiqui was not alone in receiving an award in Dubai. Actress Kajol was presented with the Powerhouse Performer Over Two Decades award for her performances in the new millennium. The event was hosted by Maniesh Paul, with a performance by Fatehi.
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat was given the Iconic OTT Star award for his performances in Paatal Lok (2020), among others.
In addition to the Indian personalities, the event saw several Pakistani and West Asian performers being honoured for their work. Raees (2017) actress Mahira Khan was given the High Achievers award.
Siddiqui has already shot for four films this year — Heropanti 2 (2022), Jogira Sara Ra Ra (2022), Adbhut (2022) and Sangeen (2021). He also has the international film No Land’s Man doing the rounds of the festival circuit. He is all set to start shooting for Kangana Ranaut’s production Tiku Weds Sheru (2022) in November.
