Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who dazzled the critics and masses with his last blockbuster Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), is back with another large-scale action film, RRR [Roudram Ranam Rudhiram], which stars Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Junior.
RRR will be clashing with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi on 7 January 2022. The film stars Alia Bhatt and it sees Ajay Devgn make a cameo. Interestingly, both Bhatt and Devgn have cameos in RRR.
At the press conference that was held to announce the makers of RRR’s partnership with PVR Cinemas in Mumbai, when Rajamouli was asked if the clash with Gangubai Kathiawadi would affect his film, he said, “Not at all. I always believe if the films are good [it won’t affect]. Even if four films come together, people will watch all the films. It happens again and again, and if you look back at history, there are multiple instances. People will be spoilt for choice.”
Considering that the Indian film industry has experienced major losses due to COVID-19, Rajamouli believes that this is the time for all film fraternity to come together.
“Many films are going to come,” he said, "I certainly hope and wish that all the films are good. I wish all the films make money and make the audience very happy and excited. This is not the time to say that my film has to do well and that film shouldn’t do well. This is the time for all of us to come together and say that all films should do well and make money."
