Directed by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi is all set to be released in theatres on 5 November. The cop drama was originally slated to be release on 24 March last year but was delayed by the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sooryavanshi is an addition to Shetty's successful cop universe which began with the Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham and Singham Returns (2014), then expanded with Simmba (2018), starring Ranveer Singh. Devgn had appeared in the film in a cameo. Now, Akshay Kumar's character is being introduced to the universe.
In Sooryavanshi, which also stars Katrina Kaif, Devgn and Ranveer Singh will be seen reprising their roles from Singham and Simmba, respectively, in special appearances.
Earlier this month, Akshay Kumar posted a short video on Instagram in which he appeared alongside Devgn and Ranveer Singh. In the video, shot inside a cinema hall, the three actors urged the audiences to watch the movie in theatres during Diwali. He had captioned his post, "Interval hua khatam, now it’s showtime! Sooryavanshi releasing this Diwali, 5th November, at a cinema near you. Come celebrate with us. Back To Cinemas."
