Janhvi Kapoor to star in remake of acclaimed Malayalam film Helen

Janhvi Kapoor will essay the role played by Anna Ben in the acclaimed Malayalam film Helen (2019).

The actress revealed that she is shooting for the remake, titled Mili, in an interview with Film Companion recently.

Helen, directed by director Mathukutty Xavier, who is also helming the remake, fetched the filmmaker the National Film Award for Best Debut Film and Ranjith Nembady the Best Makeup trophy. Anna won a Special Mention at the 2019 Kerala State Film Awards for her performance in the thriller.

Kapoor, in her interview with Film Companion, said, "I am shooting for the remake of this Malayalam film called Helen. And I love working with Mathu sir. He just makes life so easy, which is why I’m like, ‘I’m not suffering enough’. I feel like I need to inflict some amount of anxiety on myself to feel like I’ve delivered which isn’t always necessary I think."

The film revolves around a young woman who is trapped in a freezer.

The film, which is being produced by Boney Kapoor, was expected to go on the floors before the second lockdown but was postponed in view of the restrictions. The actress has also signed on for Takht, Good Luck Jerry, and the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kolamavu Kokila (2018).
