Rajinikanth, son-in-law Dhanush pose with their medals, picture goes viral


On Monday, the Kaala (2018) actor was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award while Dhanush won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Asuran (2019).

Aishwarya Dhanush took to Instagram on Monday to share a picture of her father Rajinikanth and husband Dhanush posing with their medals. On Monday, Rajinikanth was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award while Dhanush won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the Tamil film Asuran (2019).

All three were present at the ceremony in New Delhi.

Aishwarya posted two pictures on the image-sharing platform, which she captioned, “They are mine … and this is history (sic).” 

On being presented the prestigious award, Rajinikanth said, “I dedicate this award to my guru and mentor K Balachander sir, whom I remember him with gratitude. I also dedicate this award to my brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad, who was a father figure. He raised me with great values, and instilled spirituality in me."

Rajinikanth also remembered his best friend Raj Bahadur, who was the first person in his life to identify his acting talent. He also thanked all his producers, directors, technicians and his fans for their unconditional love and support. 

Dhanush, on the other hand, took to Instagram to share a note. He wrote, “To win a national award for best actor on the same stage where my Thalaivar was winning the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award was just indescribable. Thank you to the National award jury for bestowing me with this honour. Also, Thank you to the press and media for your constant support (sic).”

This was the second National award for Dhanush, who had earlier won it for his performance in the Tamil film Aadukalam (2011).

On the career front, Rajinikanth is awaiting the release of the Tamil film Annaatthe, which will hit the screens this Diwali. Dhanush’s next release will be the upcoming Hindi film Atrangi Re
