The song 'Jean' from the Punjabi-language movie Paani Ch Madhaani, starring Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa, was released on YouTube.

Sung by Grewal and Afsana Khan, the song has lyrics by Happy Raikoti set to music by Jatinder Shah.

The movie tracks a folk music troupe in Punjab which is trying to establish itself. The motley group of men is joined by a female singer, played by Bajwa, who infuses life into the team. As lead singers of the troupe, Grewal and Bajwa sing the playful number 'Jean' which relays a flirtatious conversation between a romantic couple.

The woman says she feels like wearing a pair of jeans and asks for permission from the man to wear them. To this he responds that she looks best in a Punjabi suit and should stick to wearing that. The back-and-forth is part of the tradition of Punjabi songs that present the teasing, light-hearted courtship between couples.

With sounds of the harmonium, dholak and other traditional instruments, the catchy song has a very 1980s rustic vibe. The video features the band performing in different places in traditional attire.

Paani Ch Madhaani is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and written by Naresh Kathooria. The movie also stars Karamjit Anmol and Gurpreet Ghuggi.

The film will be released in theatres on 5 November. Watch the song 'Jean' below and let us know if you are keen to see this film.
