The first look poster of Anshuman Pratyush’s upcoming film Nirbhaya depicts the plight of a sexual assault survivor. Starring Priyanka Sarkar and Gaurav Chakrabarty, Nirbhaya is Pratyush’s first realistic drama.

The film features Sreelekha Mitra, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Hiya Dey and Santilal Mukherjee.

The poster portrays the face of a victim, with a teardrop taking the shape of a foetus as it rolls down on the cheek. Her face is superimposed on a newspaper page bearing several headlines about sexual assault.

Nirbhaya is based on the infamous Delhi gang-rape and murder of 2012, that shook the entire world. On the poster, the survivor is called Samajer Lokkhi, which suggests how society both deifies women and dishonours them at the same time. The teardrop indicates rampant incidents of female foeticide.

Pratyush has not disclosed the storyline. However, he had shared a still of Gaurav and Priyanka in the avatars of lawyers, suggesting that the film will deal with the issue of justice.
