The 11th edition of the South Asian Film Festival of Montréal (SAFFM) will be held from 19 to 28 November.
A platform for filmmakers worldwide whose films have a focus on South Asia and the South Asian diaspora, this year’s festival will offer short and feature-length documentary and fiction films shown in cinemas and online.
This year, the festival will pay special tribute to the legendary director, writer and illustrator Satyajit Ray (1921-1992) on the 100th anniversary of his birth. In addition, SAFFM will also pay homage to Shahin Parhami, the late Montreal-based Iranian-Canadian filmmaker who died earlier this year. Parhami is best known for his work on the documentaries Amin and Shahrzaad's Tale.
SAFFM is presented by Kabir Centre for Arts & Culture, a not-for-profit organization promoting various art forms and activities such as music, dance, cinema, literature and poetry.
The festival will be held from 19 to 28 November in a hybrid format. The programme for 2021 is yet to be announced.
