Actress Shilpa Shetty and her businessman husband Raj Kundra, who was arrested in July in connection with a pornography racket, have sent a notice of defamation for Rs50 crore to actress Sherlyn Chopra demanding an apology from her for comments about them.

Kundra and Chopra have both been accused in the case being investigated by the Mumbai police. Kundra was enlarged on bail last month by a metropolitan magistrate's court in the city.

According to the legal news website LiveLaw.in, the couple sent a notice through advocate Prashant Patil regarding Chopra's accusation of sexual misconduct against Kundra in an FIR (first information report) relating to an incident in March 2021.

The notice claimed that Chopra had admitted filing a 'fake complaint' in a phone call to Shilpa Shetty in April 2021 and said she would take the complaint back.

The notice underlined that Chopra's statements had also dragged Shetty's name into the pornography controversy when she had nothing to do with the management or brand of Kundra's streaming app. Chopra is among the 'influencers' on the app.

Kundra was granted bail on a bond of Rs50,000 on 20 September. The entrepreneur was arrested on 20 July by the Mumbai police. Chopra was among the many names who were investigated for their involvement with the entrepreneur's app.
