Kartik Aaryan will be playing a news anchor in his upcoming film Dhamaka, which is being directed by Ram Madhvani. During the trailer launch of the film, the actor said that although his character is different from the ones he has played before, it has one common factor.
“It is not vanilla; it is a grey character,” he said. “A common thread in all my characters so far has been the relatability factor. I think even Arjun Pathak will appear as a relatable character. The role excited me because I am also very ambitious. Arjun Pathak is also very ambitious.”
He added, “A lot of situations that take place with him are relatable. Sometimes, these situations compel someone to take certain decisions. He isn’t a preachy person. He is a real person; one amongst us. It can be anyone from any industry.”
Dhamaka is a thriller that is set in Mumbai. The story starts when a terrorist calls up Aaryan’s character and threatens to blow up the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link if a politician doesn’t apologize for something. He shows his power by carrying out a minor blast on the bridge.
Sharing his experience working with Madhvani, Kartik added, “When Ram Madhvani sir offered the film to me, of course, I instantly said yes without any questions. When such a maker approaches you with a story, you don’t say no. I have sincerely worked in this film as per his instructions. I am so glad. I think you won’t see me in the film for the first time. Maybe you will see Arjun Pathak. All thanks to Ram sir.”
Also starring Amruta Subhash and Mrunal Thakur, Dhamaka will be streamed on Netflix from 19 November.
