After gaining acclaim for his lead role in Netflix’s The White Tiger (2021), Adarsh Gourav has signed on to his next international project, the Apple TV+ series Extrapolations alongside the artistes Meryl Streep, Kit Harrington, and Sienna Miller.
The young actor’s big breakthrough role as Balram Halwai in Ramin Bahrani's adaptation of Aravind Adiga's Man Booker Prize-winning novel earned him major award nominations at the BAFTA, AACTA and Independent Spirit Awards.
Extrapolations, produced by Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res, will look at how ‘changes to the planet will impact love, family, work both on a personal level and at a large human level’. The eight-episode series will contain interconnected stories that show the need for survival the world over in the current era.
Gourav is expected to play a character named Gaurav, who is a driver for hire. Besides Streep, Harrington and Miller, the series will also star Tahar Rahim, Matthew Rhys, Daveed Diggs, Gemma Chan and David Schwimmer.
The actor has flown to New York where Extrapolations is currently expected to go into production. The actor will finish his international project before heading back to India to start filming on Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (2023) co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.
Gourav, who was elated to be in the project, said, "This is beyond anything I can express to be honest. But to be working with such an incredible team at such an early juncture of my career is truly rewarding. I’m grateful that I will be working alongside some of the very best in the business. I have grown up and looked up to each of my co-stars and to now be sharing screen space with them is incredible. This story is such an important one to be told for our current generation and is tied in with realities of today."
Scott Z Burns will helm Extrapolations as a writer, director and executive producer. Michael Ellenberg, Greg Jacobs, Dorothy Fortenberry and Lindsey Springer are also executive producers on the project.
