Special Ops 1.5 trailer: Traces Himmat Singh's rise as a top RAW agent

Kay Kay Menon is back as Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent Himmat Singh for the prequel Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story.

The trailer for the web-series opens with Vinay Pathak’s Abbas Sheikh sitting at an interrogation table with a couple of investigators played by Parmeet Sethi and Kali Prasad Mukherjee. Sheikh is narrating how Himmat Singh became an ace RAW agent.

We are taken 20 years into the past; Himmat Singh is a rookie officer whom almost nobody takes seriously. He is belittled by a senior and his warnings fall on deaf ears.

But when some top officers are caught in a honeytrap, Himmat Singh is called back to lead the investigation with the help of a new officer played by Aftab Shivdasani. Their investigation leads them to a familiar face, Manindar (Aadil Khan). The duo follows his trail from Mumbai to Europe.

There seems to be a definite improvement in production values from the first season. The anti-ageing technology used on Kay Kay Menon can be a bit distracting initially, but you get used to it.

It will be interesting to see, however, how the makers recreate the era of the early 2000s. Like the first season, the prequel has been directed by Neeraj Pandey and Shivam Nair.
