Divya Dutta bags Best Actor award for short film Sheer Qorma at 7th DFW South Asian Film Festival

Sheer Qorma, written and directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, also won the Best Film award at the festival.

Divya Dutta has bagged the Best Actor award for her role in the short film Sheer Qorma (2021) at the seventh DFW South Asian Film Festival.

Written and directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, the short film, which tells a heart-warming story of LGBTQ+ characters, also won the Best Film award at the festival.

The film also stars Shabana Azmi and Swara Bhasker. Dutta took to Twitter to share the news.

The festival was held from 15–17 October this year. All screenings, including the opening night screening and the party, took place at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum in Texas.

Dutta, who is in Dallas for the launch of her second book, The Stars in My Sky, was delighted by the response to the film from audiences. "It is an important film," the actress said. "This trip has been very gratifying for me personally with the film and my performance being appreciated and my second book finding so much love from people here.”

Dutta's second book will be available on the stands from 25 October. Meanwhile, the actress has multiple projects lined up for release. She will be seen next in the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Dhaakad (2021), Tahira Kashyap's Sharmaji Ki Beti (2022) and Umesh Shukla's multi-starrer family drama Aankh Micholi (2022).
