The Telugu film Most Eligible Bachelor (2021) has done well at the box office on its first weekend, earning Rs18 crore nett in the period, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Written and directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar, the film is a romantic saga starring Akhil Akkineni and Pooja Hegde.
Most Eligible Bachelor opened with an impressive Rs7.25 crore nett on Friday, which was Dussehra. However, the collections showed a downward trend from there on, which came as a surprise. The movie collected Rs6 crore and Rs4.75 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Despite the slide, the first weekend collection is still good.
Recently, another Telugu romance titled Love Story (2021), starring Sai Pallavi and Naga Chaitanya, collected Rs23.50 crore nett on its first weekend. Clearly, Most Eligible Bachelor fell short of that number because of the drop in numbers on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, Venom: Let There Be Carnage recorded the highest post-pandemic first-weekend collection for a Hollywood film in India by amassing Rs12 crore nett, surpassing the Rs10.25 crore made by Shang Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (2021). However, Shang Chi had a normal three-day first weekend while Venom had four days as it was released on Thursday.
