Dhanush’s next film with his director brother Selvaraghavan, Naane Varuven (2022), finally went on the floors on the weekend in Chennai.

Shooting for the project was originally supposed to begin on 20 August but was postponed for undisclosed reasons.

The makers released a few posters to mark the announcement of the film’s shoot. In one of the posters, Dhanush is seen smoking a cigar and it has already become a topic of discussion on social media.

Selvaraghavan took to Twitter to share the poster.

The project marks the fifth collaboration of Dhanush and Selvaraghavan after Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002), Kadhal Konden (2003), Pudhupettai (2006) and Mayakkam Enna (2011).

Naane Varuven is being bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu. The team aims to complete the film's shooting in a single schedule.

The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be officially announced, but it is rumoured that Indhuja Ravichandran will play the leading lady.

Meanwhile, Dhanush will soon begin work on an upcoming trilingual project with filmmaker Sekhar Kammula. The film, which will go on the floors later this month, also stars Sai Pallavi.

The film will be produced on a grand scale by Narayan Das K Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the banner of Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP (a unit of the Asian Group) as Production No 4.

Sekhar Kammula is known for films like Godavari (2006), Happy Days (2007), Leader (2010) and Fidaa (2017). His latest release is the Telugu romantic drama Love Story (2021), starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi.
