Nagraj Popatrao Manjule and Zee Studios have joined hands for a Marathi movie unusually titled Ghar Banduk Biryani. Besides producing the film, Manjule will act in it along with his Sairat (2016) find Akash Thosar and veteran Sayaji Shinde.

Manjule and Zee Studios have earlier collaborated to bring forth iconic films like Fandry (2014), Sairat (2016) and Naal (2018). So, naturally, expectations of their fourth project together will be high.

Like in Naal, however, Manjule will not be taking up directorial duties for Ghar Banduk Biryani. The responsibility this time has been cast on newcomer Hemant Awtade.

Manjule has contributed the screenplay and dialogues. He had also written the dialogues for Naal.

Before taking up this project, Awtade had written and directed a short film in 2013 titled Chalees Feet. He was also the sound recordist on another short film Nital (2013), which starred Soumitra Gapchup, Isha Keskar and Ruturaj Shinde.

The makers of Ghar Banduk Biryani announced the film with a motion poster that does not feature any of the cast. It has a quirky song about the intoxication of hope playing in the background. But the meaning of the title remains a mystery.

Manjule also has his Hindi directorial debut, Jhund (2022), in the pipeline. The film starring Amitabh Bachchan has been in the making for a long time.
