Kookie V Gulati, who had helmed the Abhishek Bachchan-starrer The Big Bull (2020), is set to direct Fardeen Khan's comeback film Visfot.
The film, which will also star Riteish Deshmukh and Priya Bapat, is an official remake of the 2012 Venezuelan film Rock, Paper, Scissors which was that country's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards.
Ahead of the start of the shoot, the makers organized a mahurat (auspicious beginning) pooja for the team which was attended by the film's cast.
According to the makers, Visfot will be an intense thriller that will show the collision between the two worlds of Mumbai — the high-rises of midtown Mumbai and the chawls of Dongri.
Speaking about working with the team, director Gulati said, "The opportunity to work with this combination and actors like Riteish and Fardeen is indeed rare. I can't wait to share this incredible story with the audience."
Sanjay Gupta, whose company White Feather Films is producing the movie, said, "Every film has its own destiny and timing. This film happened to me when the world had shut down in the pandemic."
T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar, who is also backing the project, said, "As a producer, I'm always on the lookout for something new. On Visfot, we have Sanjay Gupta, who has a signature style of making movies. And we have Kookie Gulati to helm it. From Fardeen, Riteish to the team, we have a fiery combination at hand, much like the title of Visfot."
This will be Gulati's third film as director after Prince (2010) and The Big Bull (2020). This will also be Bapat's first big break in Hindi cinema. The popular Marathi actress, who recently rose to national fame with the Disney+ Hotstar political thriller web-series City Of Dreams has played small roles in Hindi films such as Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006).
