The makers of Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi had announced Diwali as the period when the film would hit the theatres. The announcement came soon after the Maharashtra government decided to let cinema halls in the state reopen on 22 October.
Now it is learnt that the Akshay Kumar- and Katrina Kaif-starrer will be released on 5 November. The news came in through a video featuring Akshay Kumar along with the two actors who are making cameo appearances in the movie — Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh.
Akshay Kumar shared the video on social media with a caption that read, “Interval hua khatam [The intermission is over], now it’s showtime! Sooryavanshi releasing this Diwali, 5 November, at a cinema near you. Come celebrate with us.”
The video sees the three actors announcing the reopening of cinema halls in the state and encouraging the audience to return to theatres to see their film.

Sooryavanshi is the fourth film in Rohit Shetty’s cop series after Singham (2011), Singham Returns (2014) and Simmba (2018). While the other three films saw the protagonists battling home-grown gangsters and politicians, Sooryavanshi will tackle the issue of terrorism. The film has Akshay Kumar playing an anti-terrorist squad (ATS) officer named Sooryavanshi.
