Swanand Kirkire-starrer Chumbak to have digital premiere on SonyLiv on 29 October


The coming-of-age drama directed by Sandeep Modi was released in cinemas on 27 July 2018.

The coming-of-age drama Chumbak, starring Swanand Kirkire, is set to have its digital premiere on SonyLiv on 29 October. The film, helmed by first-time director Sandeep Modi was released in cinemas on 27 July 2018 and had its world premiere at the 19th Mumbai Film Festival in 2017. 

The film had also bagged the Maharashtra government's Sant Tukaram Best International Marathi Film Award at the 16th Pune International Film Festival 

Chumbak also stars child artists Sahil Jadhav and Sangram Desai. The film revolves around 15-year-old Baalu who cleans tables at a Mumbai restaurant. He along with his partner in crime Disco (Sangram Desai) decides to con someone in order to escape from his wretched life, but only one person, the mentally handicapped Prasanna (Swanand Kirkire) falls for his tricks. Now  Baalu now finds himself torn between his morality and dreams.

This is the second Marathi film to have its digital premiere on SonyLiv years after it was released in cinema halls. Last week, the Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukhtankar film Kaasav (2017) also had its premiere four years after its theatrical release. 

Chumbak has been produced by Aruna Bhatia, Naren Kumar and Cape of Good Films.
