Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s film Yes I Am Student, which has been directed by Tarnvir Singh Jagpal, is scheduled to be released on 22 October.

As a run-up to the release, a song from the film titled 'Saab' was released on YouTube on Monday. 'Saab' has already clocked in more than a million views.

Sung by Moose Wala and Gurtaj, with music composed by the duo as well, the lyrics of 'Saab' have been written by Moose Wala and Hapee Malhi. The song's music director is the Kidd.

The song speaks of the aspirations of the young to get a job and make a life for themselves. The life of a farmer is filled with hardships as it involves doing hard labour in the gruelling summer and winter months. The lyrics vividly describe the exacting life in a village and that of cultivators. Despite all their toil, the farmers barely get anything in return and have to constantly fight for their rights. Given this, the youth wishes to get salaried work and carve out a better fate for themselves, trying to become a 'Saab', a translation of ‘Sahib’, or an executive.

However, the song lays bare the fact that even though there is a great desire amongst the youth to go abroad, specifically to Canada, and work, things aren’t quite rosy there either. One has to work hard and besides, live amongst strangers, far away from home. This is also the central theme of the film which examines the hardships and struggles that Indian students face abroad. Given the theme of the song, it is slow in tempo and the video features scenes from the movie.

Check out the song and let us know if you are keen on watching the film.
