Akarsh Khurana's Rashmi Rocket sees Taapsee Pannu play a character who has been ostracized by society for no fault of hers, other than having a talent that sets her apart from the herd. The film is also about the unlikely support systems that emerge in such trying circumstances.
'Zindagi Tere Naam' is a declaration of love by Rashmi's fiance (Priyanshu Painyuli), who stands by her side through thick and thin. Composed and sung by Amit Trivedi, the song has a healing quality and features charming lyrics by Kausar Munir.
The song is set at a time when Rashmi experiences turmoil after accusations are made against her. With the world questioning her identity and gender, she is confused, lost, angry and even depressed. In her corner, her fiance quietly tries to help her emerge out of this darkness. The visuals capture the before and after scenes of the couple going through the toughest time of their lives, while the lyrics reflect Painyuli's character's devotion to his lover.
Trivedi's composition is minimalistic but effective. While the composer, who has sung the song, is a fantastic vocalist given the right song, this endeavour feels odd. The unadorned nature of the music, and lack of pace, leaves the composer's vocals sounding a little weak and unimpactful. The song is somewhat saved, however, by the lyrics, which are dotted with some lovely images and metaphors.
Rashmi Rocket features Shweta Tripathi, Supriya Pathak and Abhishek Banerjee.
The film will be released on Zee5 on 15 October.
