The film is part of a four-film slate announced by 2D Entertainment in August and will be released in 240 countries in Tamil and Telugu. It is titled Rakta Sambandham in Telugu.
Last month, Amazon Prime Video had announced a new slate for the festive season, which included the Era Saravanan film. However, the release date was not declared at the time.
Incidentally, Udanpirappe arrives just two days ahead of another big Amazon Prime release, Shoojit Sarkar's Sardar Udham (2021, Hindi). The original plan was to release Udanpirappe in theatres, but the pandemic and resulting lockdowns led to a change of plans.
Besides Jyotika and Sasikumar, the family drama will see Samuthirakani, Kalaiyarasan, Nivedithaa Satish and Soori in key roles.
