John Abraham's action film Attack was supposed to be released on Independence Day last year. Then the COVID-19 pandemic struck. The film's release was rescheduled for Independence Day 2021. But the second wave of the pandemic scuttled that plan.

Now, with the Maharashtra government having announced the reopening of cinema halls on 22 October, the filmmakers have set Republic Day next year as the release date. Will they be third time lucky?

Attack is simply the latest film whose release date has been announced in a flurry of activity since the Maharashtra government's decision. The directorial debut of Lakshya Raj Anand, Attack has been produced by Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Movies, Ajay Kapoor and John himself. It also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh. The film is a hostage drama where John plays the rescuer. It is said to be based upon a true event.

Along with the release date, the makers shared the first poster for the movie, where John can be seen with his back to the camera, standing in the midst of what looks like a war zone.

Earlier this year, John had said, “Attack is a taut action entertainer with a strong storyline... a genre I love! At JA Entertainment, it is our endeavour to push the envelope and produce films that entertain and have something significantly different to show to our increasingly discerning audience.”
