Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Prateik Babbar’s Lionsgate Play show titled Hiccups and Hookups

Lionsgate Play announced the remake of the US show Casual as its first Indian production earlier this year. The makers have titled it Hiccups and Hookups. Directed by Kunal Kohli, the web-series stars Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Prateik Babbar, Shinnova, Divya Seth, Nassar Abdullah, Khalid Siddiqui, Meiyang Chang, Meera Chopra and Ayn Zoya.

A statement from the makers read, “Hiccups and Hookups centres around Vasudha Rao (Lara Dutta) a newly separated single mother living with her brother Akhil Rao (Prateik Babbar) and her daughter Kavanya Khattar (Shinnova). The sassy-yet-heart-warming series opens doors to accepting a dysfunctional family without any judgement. The lead characters coach each other through the crazy world of dating while raising Vasudha’s teenage daughter. The closeness and honesty between the leads allow them to share the good, bad and ugly side of their relationships with each other.”

This year, Dutta Bhupathi has appeared in two projects in the form of Bell Bottom, where she played India’s former prime minister Indira Gandhi, and Call My Agent: Bollywood.
