Actor Vikram Chatterjee and Ditipriya Roy, who is known for appearing in the popular television series Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni, will star in Aditya Sengupta’s maiden directorial venture. The untitled film, which will be shot in Sikkim, is the second venture of Sampurna Lahiri and Rahul Bhanja’s Small Taalk Ideas after Mainak Bhaumik’s Mini (2022), starring Mimi Chakraborty.

The film will see Chatterjee and Roy play two friends who go on a road trip, which impacts their lives forever.

Chatterjee, who is popular across the film, television and OTT platforms and has recently finished shooting for his Hindi film debut, shared his excitement for the new venture. “I've known Aditya for a while, and we've been planning to do a film together since 2017 which is finally materialising now.”

According to the actor, the script is brilliant and simple. “The film is about friendship and love in the backdrop of a journey. Simple storytelling excites me a lot because people relate to it easily. It is a very young team and will bring a lot of freshness onscreen,” he said.

“This film is all about friendship and love. I'm delighted to be working with Bushka da (Aditya Sengupta). I was his sister-in-law in his first acting venture Projapoti Biskut (2017) and now he's directing me in his first directorial venture,” said the actress who has been basking in the recognition of Subhrajit Mitra’s Avijatrik, in which she plays Apu’s wife Aparna.

"I'm also very excited to be working alongside Vikram da and this will be our first film together. We’ve made an amazing bond and I hope this bonding and friendship will reflect on screen also,” said the actress, who is thrilled at the prospect of shooting at beautiful locales in Sikkim.

Sengupta said, “With this film, the aim is to tell a generational story about friendship, love, and a journey of self-discovery."

The actor-turned-director feels his film is based on universal themes and that hopefully, the audience will be able to connect with the story and the characters in a unique, emotional way. “It's a simple and soulful story, filled with the little things that make life worth living. Two lifelong friends embark on a road trip to the mountains, to fulfil a childhood plan. This journey brings them closer to each other but also makes them realize how far apart their realities are," he said.

At the core of the film is a friendship, which is more than a decade old, and this story looks at how relationships with friends change over time. “I hope that this film resonates deeply with people and brings a smile to their faces,” said Sengupta.

The film is also special for Lahiri for various reasons. “My association with both Vikram and Aditya goes way back. While Aditya was my first co-actor in a docu-feature that we worked on together, Vikram and I have been friends for over a decade and have always planned to work together in a film. Finally, our wish comes true but as an actor-producer jodi,” shared the actor turned producer. Lahiri feels Ditipriya is a charming girl and a brilliant actor, and she is glad to have her in their film.

Music will play an integral part in the film and Ranajoy Bhattacharjee will be in charge of this department. The film will go on the floors this year.
