Jai Bhim makers digitally alter shot of symbol to avoid hurting sentiments

The makers of Jai Bhim, which was premiered on Amazon Prime on 2 November, have digitally altered a shot of a calendar with a symbol after it become a topic of controversy on social media.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Jai Bhim is a hard-hitting courtroom drama about fighting for the oppressed and caste-based discrimination. The film stars Suriya as a lawyer, Chandru, who dedicates his life to fighting for the oppressed without charging a single penny.
Over the weekend, a section of the audience took offence to a particular scene in the movie in which a calendar shot features a symbol. To not hurt the sentiments of people; the makers have replaced the symbol with a picture of goddess Lakshmi, according to a statement issued to the media in Tamil.
The film features Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Rajisha Vijayan and Lijo Mol Jose.
Jai Bhim is the second direct-to-OTT release for Suriya after Soorarai Pottru. It is also his third production venture after Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum and Udanpirappe to be released on a digital platform.
