Marakkar trailer: Fierce Mohanlal promises an epic visual spectacle

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film tells the story of 16th century naval officer Kunjali Marakkar IV who was known for his sea battles with the Portuguese.

Just two days before its worldwide release, the makers of the Mohanlal-starrer epic war drama Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (2021) have released another trailer for the movie.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film tells the story of 16th-century naval officer Kunjali Marakkar IV who was known for his sea battles with the Portuguese.

The trailer has been cut and edited to give the viewer a fair idea of the film's epic scale and serves the purpose. The big ships and the grand battle sequences in the Arabian Sea and on the ground convey a sense of the scale of production.

The trailer opens with the voice-over of a Portuguese officer who announces the arrival of 6,000 armed men to end the 'atrocities' of Kunjali Marakkar. The officer wants to capture Marakkar, dead or alive.

Mohanlal looks fierce and determined as Marakkar. The trailer also features Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh and Suniel Shetty.

Rarely has Indian cinema portrayed naval battles and since most of Marakkar's major battles took place in the open sea, it will be interesting to see how the sequences have been recreated for the big screen.

The film will be released in theatres on 2 December after several delays caused by the pandemic. Apart from Malayalam, the film will be released in dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.

Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film on the big screen.
