Box office: Antim has average first weekend, Satyameva Jayate 2 crashes

The Mahesh Manjrekar film starring Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma saw a small rise in collections on the weekend but not enough to save face.

Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma's Antim: The Final Truth (2021) saw a small rise in collections at the box office over the weekend.

After opening with Rs4.75 crore nett on Friday, the film made Rs5.50 crore and Rs7.75 crore nett on the next two days, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

This increase, however, was not enough to save the film's face. Overall its numbers are poor, given that this is a film starring Salman Khan.

While the Marathi film Mulshi Pattern (2018), on which Antim is based, saw the gangster as the protagonist, the Hindi remake has given equal footage to the cop, played by Khan.

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, Antim’s total collection at the domestic box office stands at a mediocre Rs18 crore. The film was made on a budget of Rs45 crore, according to trade experts, and will need to do reasonably well during the week to get anywhere close to that mark.

Meanwhile, John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate 2 (2021), which was released a day ahead of Antim, had a terrible extended first weekend. Directed by Milap Zaveri and featuring John in a triple role, the film has collected a grand total of just Rs9.50 crore nett in its first four days. Given that it was made, according to trade sources, at a cost of about Rs60 crore, Satyameva Jayate 2 is a disaster.

Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty’s Akshay Kumar-starrer Sooryavanshi (2021) finished its fourth weekend with a collection of Rs4.15 crore nett, taking its grand total to Rs188.90 crore.
