Mangesh Desai has been acting in Marathi plays, television serials and movies for almost two decades. Now he is set to don the hat of producer by setting up his own banner, Sahil Motion.
Desai’s first film as producer went on the floors recently. While the title and cast-and-crew details have been kept under wraps, his publicist described it as an “ambitious” project.
On becoming a producer, Desai said in a statement, “I was wanting to do something different after working as an actor all these years. That’s why I have stepped into film production.
"Producing a film is as challenging as acting. I have been working sincerely as an actor irrespective of whether the role is serious or comic. I am sure the audience will see the same sincerity in me as a producer in my first film."
He said details about the film will be released "at the right time”.
Desai is best known for his portrayal of legendary Indian film personality Master Bhagwan aka Bhagwan Dada in the biopic Ekk Albela (2016), directed by Shekhar Sartandel. The film had Vidya Balan essaying the role of the actress Geeta Bali.
Desai was seen recently in the role of a defence lawyer in the Hindi movie Rashmi Rocket (2021).
