Upendra Limaye, Sayaji Shinde cast in Avinash Kolte's Faas

Veteran actors Upendra Limaye and Sayaji Shinde will join the ensemble cast of Kamlesh Sawant, Pallavi Palkar, Ganesh Chandanshive and Navdev Patil in Avinash Kolte's drama, Faas.

Based on the struggles of caste oppression, the film is being produced by Maheshwari Patil Chakurkar under the banner of Maa Entertainment.

The story also tackles issues like the alarming increase in suicides by farmers, the growing imbalance in nature, and the impact of government directives on the farmers and their families.

Speaking about the title Faas, which translates as noose, director Kolte said, "We studied with diligence the lives of farmers and kept in mind the intricate nuances of their day-to-day lives as well as their trials and tribulations. The entertainment medium has been used to show the reality of society. The film has been made with a blend of entertainment and social awareness."

The story and dialogues are by Patil Chakurkar while Kolte has penned the screenplay. Ramani Ranjan Das is the director of photography and Apoorva Motiwale and Aashish Mhatre are editing the film. Its release date has not been announced.
