Last Friday, the Marathi movie Jhimma (2021), starring as many as seven actresses, was released in theatres to appreciation from critics and audiences alike.

Now, filmmaker Kedar Shinde has released the first poster for his all-woman Marathi film titled Baipan Bhaari Deva.

The movie has an ensemble cast that includes Rohini Hattangadi, Vandana Gupte, Sukanya Kulkarni, Suchitra Bandekar, Shilpa Navalkar and Deepa Chaudhari. It tells the story of six sisters.

Incidentally, Bandekar plays a prominent part in Jhimma as well.

Shinde revealed the first poster on Twitter and announced that the film would be released in theatres on 28 January. He wrote (translated from Marathi), “Before the announcement of any of the forthcoming elections, our release date is out.”

The poster features a cast member from the film whose face is hidden. One can see the names of different roles played by women written on her attire, such as (translated) sister, daughter, mother, wife and daughter-in-law.

Shinde’s previous film was Rangeela Rayabaa (2017). He is better known for Aga Bai Arechya (2004), Yanda Kartavya Aahe (2006), Jatra (2006) and Shreemant Damodar Pant (2013). He made a sequel to his 2004 hit titled Aga Bai Arechya 2 (2015).

He recently announced a biopic on his grandfather Krishnarao Sable, a folk artiste popularly known as Shahir (or folk poet) Sable. Titled Maharashtra Shahir, the film is scheduled for release in 2023.
