Milap Zaveri’s Satyameva Jayate 2 made a poor opening yesterday. The film, starring John Abraham, John Abraham, John Abraham and Divya Khosla Kumar, could only muster Rs3 crore nett, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The incoherent trailers for the film had already generated a good deal of bad publicity for Satyameva Jayate 2. After its release yesterday, the movie was panned by critics and audiences alike for its equally mindless content. Even a triple role by John Abraham has not succeeded in countering this negative buzz.
The original Satyameva Jayate (2018), while only an average film, had done well at the box office despite its clash with the Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold (2018), which was also barely satisfying.
According to trade sources, Satyameva Jayate 2 has been made on a budget of about Rs60 crore. And with the Salman Khan-starrer Antim: The Final Truth being released today, it may struggle to get close to that figure.
According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, while Antim also hasn’t set the cash registers ringing, the film has registered better occupancy on the first day.
